Earth Day is around the corner, so we wanted to share some creative ways you could reuse and repurpose empty Jade Leaf Matcha tins!

1. Cute Planters

Propagate cuttings from your house plants in our matcha tins! Not only is this a fun project you can do with your family, it's also a great way to save money if you're a plant lover. No need to buy new plants, nurture new plants from your cuttings. There are a few different ways to propagate different types of plants, here's a great resource to check out to see which method would be best for your plant.

I took cuttings of some of my favorite house plants (a Hoya, Jade Plant, and Silver Satin Pothos) and taught my nephews how to nurture their green thumb.

A couple of our community members (aka Matcha Baes) shared these photos of how they've reused our beloved matcha tins:

The lovely Jenny used our 2018 Limited Edition Single Origin jar to give this gorgeous succulent a new home 😍

Nuri has been propagating scallions in our Signature Ceremonial Grade tin!! This is an incredible idea (especially if you love having scallions on hand for garnishing your dishes) ✨

    2. Storage containers for dry goods (like salt)

Here are some other dry goods you can store in your empty matcha tins:

    • Loose leaf tea (This is my favorite way to reuse tins!)
    • Chia seeds
    • Hemp seeds
    • Nuts
    • Coffee beans (we're not hating on coffee)
    • Oatmeal
    • Flour

If you are the lucky owner of one of our 2019 Limited Edition Gift Sets, you can also reuse the Japanese woodwork box that housed each of our Limited Edition offerings. I've been using mine to store finishing salts I love sprinkling over my steaks and savory dishes. One compartment of the wooden box is storing matcha salt 😋

    3. DIY Candles

    4. Household items

Stay organized by storing loose household items in our empty tins. They're great for storing items like loose: screws, nails, bolts, pushpins, safety pins, and paperclips! The possibilities are endless. Marie Kondo would be proud!

    5. More matcha!!

Refill your matcha tins with more matcha! Keep your eyes peeled for an exciting announcement soon 😉
