What is an extreme milkshake?
An extreme milkshake, also known as a “freakshake” is just what it sounds like: a milkshake, on steroids. These over-the-top desserts are topped with a tower of all things candy, pastries, whipped cream… you name it, it’s probably been put on a freakshake.
But we think our matcha version takes the cake! (Pun intended)
What kind of matcha should I use?
Our Culinary Grade Matcha is perfect for this recipe! Made from second harvest tea leaves, culinary matcha has a slightly more robust bitterness, making it a perfect counterpart for the sweet ice cream (and tons of candy toppings!)
Extreme matcha toppings
Head to your nearest Asian supermarket and load up on all your favorite matcha flavored treats! And if you want to be really extreme, add a slice of our Matcha Birthday Cake
Here’s everything we used to top our freakshake:
- Matcha pocky sticks
- Matcha egg roll
- Assorted mochi
- Matcha kit-kat
- Matcha birthday cake
- Whipped cream
Ingredients
- Sprinkles
- White chocolate melting wafers
- 4 scoops vanilla ice cream (about 1 ½ cups)
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tbsp culinary grade matcha, sifted
- Whipped cream
- Assorted toppings
Directions:
- Pour the sprinkles onto a plate. Roll rim of milkshake glass in melted white chocolate; now roll rim in sprinkles so they stick. Set aside to harden while you make the milkshake.
- To a blender, add ice cream, milk, and sifted matcha; blend until thoroughly combined, about 30 seconds.
- Pour matcha milkshake into prepared glass; Add whipped cream and toppings. Enjoy!
