First Harvest 2020 - A Toast to Our Farmers

Jules Reyes

We would love for you to meet our farmers and our tea master who passionately craft your matcha in Uji and Kagoshima, Japan.

Overcoming challenges, our partner family farmers just concluded a bountiful first harvest. We would love for you to meet our farmers and our tea master who passionately craft your matcha in Uji and Kagoshima, Japan. Click the video below to learn more about their passion for cultivating organic matcha.

Reconnecting with our team in Japan and visiting our farmers and their families during Ichibancha (First Harvest) is one of the greatest privileges of our work — this is something our U.S. team eagerly looks forward to each year.

As we are amid the COVID-19 crisis, the safety of our teams in both Japan and the U.S. are our top priority, so we will do our part to combat this global crisis by staying put and remaining in quarantine.

Despite this, the 2020 First Harvest is in full swing and is the busiest season for our tea farmers - this year taking extra precautions for utmost safety and integrity. They are hard at work crafting this season's most sublime matcha that we will be sharing with you all later this Fall.

We're especially proud this year to work with the GFP (Global Farmers Project), an incredible initiative by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries supporting Japanese farmers (like our tea farmer Henta-san in the photo below) in providing their goods to the world.

As a reminder, we still have just few tins left of our 2019 First Harvest Limited Edition offerings, and they are as exquisite as ever. Grab a tin or two before they are gone for good!
