Matcha Charcuterie Board

Jules Reyes

Feelin' fancy? Craving matcha? We've got the fix! Matcha-fy a charcuterie board by adding sprinkles of matcha to complement savory flavor profiles. We know this may sound quite peculiar, but trust us - it's delicious. Matcha is a great addition to savory recipes.

STEP 1: BUILD YOUR CHARCUTERIE BOARD

Purchase your favorite charcuterie items including a spread of cheeses, cured meats, fruits, veggies, marinated olives, pickled veggies like (cornichons), crackers, and bread. If you don't know where to begin, Google and Pinterest have great ideas around which ingredients pair well together. Visit your local grocery store and peruse the cheese section - start with cheeses you know and enjoy and begin to branch out from there. If you need a recommendation, I love selecting soft white cheeses (like gouda) that are creamy and have a milder flavor profile because I find they tend to taste delicious with matcha sprinkled on top. Matcha adds a beautiful earthiness. In terms of cured meats, you can't go wrong with salami, prosciutto, jamon, sopressata - but select cured meats you know and love. The fun part is building a charcuterie board that you will enjoy, yes, we want to be fancy - but we also want to enjoy the spread. Do you.

STEP 2: ASSEMBLE YOUR CHARCUTERIE BOARD

Grab a large cutting board or marble slab and begin assembling your charcuterie board. Start by placing the cheese selections on the board and place complementary ingredients around it. For example, I have a bleu cheese selection placed next to honey comb and berries - these favors pair well together. Fill empty spaces of your board with fruit, veggies, nuts, or chocolate.

STEP 3: MATCHA-FY YOUR BOARD

MATCHA CHEESE

I love to brûlée softer cheeses with a blow torch (you can also achieve this by slicing open the rind of your cheese and broiling it in the oven for 2-5 minutes). Once the cheese is gooey and melted, sprinkle matcha into it and gently stir to incorporate. Spread a generous amount over your bread or crackers and top it off with additional ingredients. I used our Ceremonial Grade Single Serves :)

MATCHA HONEY

Blending matcha in honey create a perfect blend of sweet grassiness. Simply take 5 tbs of honey and add 1/2 tsp of Culinary Grade Matcha (or any grade you have on hand) and stir until its completely incorporated. Place the matcha honey in a small dish and onto your board. Drizzle over bleu cheese or sharper cheeses.

STEP 4: MOST IMPORTANT STEP - HAVE FUN!

That is all :)
